This vibrant and raw musical follows the exhilarating journey of a new generation of young Americans, led by friends Johnny, Tunny and Will, as they struggle to find meaning in a post-9/11 world, borne along by Green Day's electrifying score with music and lyrics by Billie Joe Armstrong and book by Billie Joe Armstrong and Michael Mayer.

Funding has been made possible in part by the NJ State Council on the Arts, Dept. of State, a Partner Agency of the National Endowment for the Arts, through a grant administered by the Union County Office of Cultural & Heritage Affairs.

(CRANFORD, NJ) -- Green Day’s American Idiot is barreling into CDC Theatre. The two-time TONY Award-winning hit musical, based on Green Day's GRAMMY Award-winning multi-platinum album, boldly takes the American musical where it's never gone before.  It follows the exhilarating journey of a new generation of young Americans, led by friends Johnny, Tunny and Will, as they struggle to find meaning in a post-9/11 world, borne along by Green Day's electrifying score with music and lyrics by Billie Joe Armstrong and book by Billie Joe Armstrong and Michael Mayer.

This high-octane show includes every song from Green Day's album American Idiot, as well as several songs from follow-up release, 21st Century Breakdown. Johnny, Tunny and Will struggle to find meaning in a post-9/11 world. An energy-fueled rock opera, American Idiot, features little dialogue and instead relies on the lyrics from Green Day's groundbreaking album to execute the story line
